FAQ - Frequently asked questions
Here you will find quick answers
How to install the telematics box?
There are two possibilities for the installation. One is directly on the OBD II interface. The box itself is located behind the dashboard. The second option is to install the telematics box completely behind the dashboard. With the second solution, the OBD II connector of the vehicle remains free.
How long does the installation take?
For installation directly on the OBD II connector about 5-10 minutes. For the second variant (completely behind the dashboard) about 10-20 minutes.
Can I take the box with me when I change vehicles?
The telematics box can be moved from vehicle to vehicle without any problems. Installed in the new vehicle, the box configures itself automatically and is ready for use after a short time.
How long does the telematics box last?
Depending on the treatment, the box has a service life of 5 to 7 years
With which vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) is the GlobalmatiX telematics system compatible?
In principle, the box is compatible with all common vehicle manufacturers. Exotics we can read out, understand and provide within a short time. Additional costs may arise here
What data can be supplied?
It can be said that we can supply all data that also have a sensor. For isolated data, however, we are dependent on the manufacturer and whether it ejects the desired data.
Our telematics system also collects non-vehicle data such as GPS and acceleration data.
Is there a minimum purchase quantity?
No, there is no minimum purchase quantity.
How is the implementation process going?
Together with our customers we discuss the required data package and services. Based on the vehicle list provided by the customer, we estimate the feasibility. Afterwards a number of boxes to be defined is installed for testing. After a test phase of about 1-3 months, the setup is completed and the rollout to the entire vehicle fleet begins. During this time, GlobalmatiX provides an experienced project manager who is the interface between customer, sales and technology.
Can I test the telematics system?
We even recommend testing our telematics solution in detail in a PoC (Proof of Concept). This is the only way to get a feeling of what the final telematics solution should look like.
What are the requirements for a test phase? (Proof of Concept / PoC)
The prerequisite is a declaration of intent on the part of the customer and an existing fleet.
What are the differences in data collection for electric vehicles?
The required diagnostic data for electric vehicles is not as extensive as for vehicles with combustion engines. This is because fewer wearing parts are installed in an electric vehicle.
Can we shut down a vehicle remotely? (Switch off starting process)
We can realize this solution, but it must be agreed individually with the customer.
How does the data transfer from the vehicle to the cloud work?
The data is transferred to our cloud in real time using an eSim.
How does the data from the cloud get into my fleet management software?
We provide various API interfaces so that implementation in your fleet management software is no problem. Close coordination between the IT departments is necessary here.
Do you offer your own fleet management software?
Yes. Our fleet management software runs under the name xFMS and offers you extensive evaluation and reporting options.
How do you secure the data from unauthorized access? (Security by Design)
Our data is secured via Security by Design. This is a patented authorization procedure that guarantees maximum data security and is unique on the market.
Can the Telematik Box be extended with additional services?
You can expand your GlobalmatiX telematics system with additional services or disable functions as you wish. Changes work "over-the-air" and the hardware does not have to be taken in hand for it
Do the vehicles need to be made accessible for expansion?
No, this is not necessary. All updates or extensions can be conveniently enabled and set up "over-the-air".
What is the price for a telematics solution?
The price consists of three components: 1. Telematics unit (box) 2. Cable 3. Service
What contract terms do they offer?
We offer standard contract terms of 12, 24 or 36 months. For large projects, individual contract periods can also be offered.
Can xKeyless also be used on vehicles with a mechanical key?
We can also equip vehicles with a mechanical key with a "KeylessGo" solution. In this case, a second box (safe) is installed in the glove compartment.
What happens if the power supply to the box is interrupted?
The box can do without power supply for a certain time. As soon as the box is activated (starting the vehicle) the stored data is transferred. We usually set our telematics so that the box sends the received data once a day.
